He didn't care about disciplining anyone on that list, he wanted to scare the rest of us. ![]() We walzed over to crew scheduling and asked them to run a report on all sick calls over the last couple weeks, took that list over to BL and said haul these guys in. If he knew what was going on, the operation wouldn't be such a disaster everyday. ![]() Make no mistake, BL carefully observed and recorded patterns, timing of sick calls and inter alia for months before pulling the trigger.I don't believe that for a second. Albeit exhonerated, BL et al were certainly watching the 44 guys who were disciplined for calling in sick. There are those who feel the new fuel policy is coercive and hostile. There are numerous Capt's who assert the elephant in the room is BL and his minions are watching and recording who is and who is not adding fuel. That one is still very much in the works from what I hear. Also theoretically a new exemption once the new dx software is implimented that allows for reduced wx at destination with no altn. I have heard that standard cont fuel is going to be reduced at some point, but that change has not been implimented yet. Remember you are always entitled to W.A.M.O fuel under 121.647. None of us like diversions because of the time sink and headache they are, but if the company thinks they can stomach them then all the power to them I guess. In the eyes of the company, lowish ceilings, sub-optimal wx, or other random factors are not a great reason to provide extra cont fuel over standard. And so the company would prefer if we trim unneccessary fuel when it isn't being used as a cost saving measure. Emphasis was instead placed on the low end of the scale, where dispatch was providing thousands of pounds of fuel that just wern't being used. On the far end of the scale (TSRA at ETA, CAT II-III, ect.) the graphs were pretty well lined up and so managment was happy. They gave us lots of fun graphs and charts comparing planned vs actual enroute time and fuel burn as well as fuel provided by dispatch vs actual fuel burned. The new fuel policy was discussed in our end of year / winter recurrent training back in November/December on the dispatch side. How many of you would jump for joy if F9 were acquired by a legacy? Feel a sense of relief in just the thought of an acquisition? This new policy, combined with reduced contigency fuel is tantamount to putting a bandaid on a sucking chest wound. Does the possibility of jeopardizing your job prejudice your judgement in re: adding fuel? If Capt's take less fuel, it is resonable to believe BB theorizes F9 will save money, preserving his job as a result of appeasing BF. Of course, Capt's may add fuel, but it comes at a price. Don't kid yourself, it's all about the bottom line, not safety, not empowering the crews and trusting their judgement and expereince Again, it's all about money (emphasis added).
